A program for high school and up, with the goals of developing an international community around Creativity, Invention and Entrepreneurship.

How to Participate

Contact info@etes.us to bring an ICE community to your local school, city or organization.

Find youth in 9th grade and up interested in participating in the ICE.

Interact with other ICE communities through a visual interactive platform, e.g. Skype, Webex.

Participate in activities with the goals of Creativity, Invention and Entrepreneurship, made available through online sharing mechanisms.

Bring a group to Summer ICE, Long Beach, in July/August 2017!

Summer International ICE 2017

Week 1: Creativity July 24-28

Participants will be introduced to tools and techniques for creative thinking.  Participants will be taken through specially selected exercises designed to open up their minds to new ideas and creations.

Participants will engage in after-hours sessions designed to introduce prototyping tools and skill sets.  The 3d Printer, the laser cutter and design tools will be shared, as well as electronics, woodworking and metalworking tools.  Exploration and hands-on use of tools will be encouraged.

Week 1 pricing includes an onsite stay at CSULB.

Week 2: Invention and Prototyping July 31-August 4

Participants will be placed on teams and will be provided with a specific task for exploration.  They will be provided with the opportunity to explore the use of the creativity tools in identifying an invention to prototype.  Mentors will take the participants through exercises in product identification and specification based upon the theme.

Shopping trips to surplus electronics stores, specific maker spaces and specialty supply stores.

Product documentation, prototyping approaches will be discussed, and the prototype development started.

Week 2 pricing is for a 9AM – 4PM program, with after-hours access to a Maker space.  Additional dorm and/or homestay arrangements may be made for those needing lodging.

Week 3:Entrepreneurship and Presentation August 7-August 11

Prototyping continues, and documentation of business plan developed, as well as presentation materials for contest entry.

Week 3 pricing is for a 9AM – 4PM program, with after-hours access to a Maker space.  Additional dorm and/or homestay arrangements may be made for those needing lodging.
